Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy
Pelvic Floor Therapy in Queens, NYC
Are you dealing with new symptoms and feeling lost or confused?
Are you leaking, feeling urgency, or new pelvic pain and not sure where to turn?
You have been to your primary care doctor and they have told you that everything is okay.
Yet the symptoms persist.
Pelvic floor symptoms are frustrating and often very isolating.
You are not alone!
Take Flight Physical Therapy is here to help support and guide you. Pelvic floor therapy is a specialized form of physical therapy that focuses on treating bladder, bowel, intimacy and pelvic conditions. We provide expert assessment, care, and solutions.
Pelvic floor muscle dysfunction can cause issues with peeing, pooping and intimacy. By restoring muscle tone and coordination, pelvic floor symptoms improve and resolve.
Our physical therapist Natalie will be able to confirm whether your issue is caused by the pelvic floor muscles.
It is important to know that pelvic floor therapy does not just consist of strengthening the muscles.
Pelvic therapy addresses excess muscle tension, looks at the relationship of the pelvic floor to the other trunk muscles, looks at hip mobility and strength, endurance, pressure management and more.
We treat these diagnoses on a daily basis:
Urinary frequency, urinary urgency and leaking
Bowel concerns (constipation, hemorrhoids, fissures, leaking)
Sexual concerns (pain with intimacy, vaginismus)
Pelvic pain conditions (interstitial cystitis, endometriosis, pudendal neuralgia, vulvodynia)
Diastasis recti (abdominal muscle separation)
Birth and labor preparation
Pregnancy support
Postpartum recovery
Heaviness in the pelvic region (prolapse)
Low back, hip and tailbone pain
SI joint dysfunction, pubic symphysis pain
Frequently Asked Questions
-
As a patient you will be given time to tell your story and medical history.
We provide a holistic approach where we can specifically assess the pelvic floor muscles as well as the external muscles of the trunk and pelvis. This can include an internal exam, but only with your consent! We go over the exam using a model beforehand.
We also discuss lifestyle factors like nutrition, hydration, bathroom habits, sleep and stress.
In addition, we look at your movement such as walking, squatting, lunging and more to figure out what is contributing to your concerns.

Our pelvic floor PT Natalie is trained to assess the pelvic floor internally (vaginally or rectally). This will be explained prior using a model and you can always decline internal treatment. The goal is to assess the muscle tone and coordination of the pelvic floor. You are always in control of your body during sessions and there are patients that choose not to do an internal exam.
